Tuesday 7th July — Oban
Guests embarked in Oban before Hebridean Princess slipped her moorings and sailed for the Isle of Mull, anchoring overnight in the shelter of Duart Bay beneath the ramparts of Duart Castle.
Wednesday 8th July — Isle of Barra
A leisurely morning’s cruise took us through the Sound of Mull and across the Sea of the Hebrides towards the Isle of Barra. Berthing alongside at Castlebay in the afternoon, the bikes were craned ashore and our cyclists set off on a circular ride around the island, while the explorers enjoyed a guided tour taking in Barra’s unique beach airport — the only one in the world where scheduled flights land on the sand between tides.
We anchored overnight off Castlebay.
Thursday 9th July — South Uist to North Uist
We sailed into Lochboisdale, South Uist, over breakfast. From there, the cyclists joined the Hebridean Way, riding north to Clachan and onwards to Lochmaddy — with an impromptu coffee and cake stop at the distillery proving a highlight! The explorers spent a full day touring the Uists, including visits to the Kildonan Museum and the distillery, and everyone came together ashore for a Hebridean picnic lunch.
Hebridean Princess repositioned from Lochboisdale to Lochmaddy, where all guests rejoined the ship before we anchored overnight in East Loch Tarbert off Harris.
Friday 10th July — Harris and Lewis
Arriving in Tarbert, Isle of Harris, after breakfast, the cyclists tackled one of the finest stretches of the Hebridean Way — Tarbert to Stornoway — with their support vehicle carrying packed lunches and refreshments along the route. The explorers enjoyed a panoramic coach tour featuring the white sands of Horgabost beach, a delicious lunch at the Uig Sands Restaurant, and afternoon visits to the ancient Callanish Stones and Carloway Broch.
The ship sailed from Tarbert to Stornoway, where we remained alongside overnight, with entertainment in the Lounge after dinner.
Saturday 11th July — Lewis
From Stornoway, the cyclists embarked on the Arnol circuit, passing the Callanish Stones en route. The explorers spent the morning at St Moluag’s Church and the Butt of Lewis — the island’s dramatic northern tip — returning to the ship for lunch before an afternoon visit to the Lews Castle Museum.
We anchored overnight off the remote and beautiful Shiant Isles.
Sunday 12th July — Isle of Skye
Sailing into Uig over breakfast, the cyclists enjoyed a spectacular ride through the otherworldly landscapes of the Trotternish Peninsula from Uig to Portree, while the explorers toured the peninsula by coach, visiting Flora MacDonald’s grave and the Museum of Island Life. All guests gathered for lunch at the Flodigarry Hotel before rejoining the ship in Portree.
We anchored overnight off Armadale on the Sleat Peninsula.
Monday 13th July — Return to Oban
Our final morning was spent cruising past the Small Isles and into the Sound of Mull on passage towards Oban, berthing alongside at lunchtime. In the afternoon, the cyclists enjoyed one last ride along the Taynuilt route while the explorers visited Dunollie Castle.
The voyage concluded in style with the farewell gala dinner held alongside in Oban.
Tuesday 14th July — Disembarkation
Guests disembarked in Oban after a week of island-hopping, pedalling and discovery through the very best of the Hebrides.
