‘Water-nymph’ island in Gaelic, Eriska is a flat tidal 300 acre (121ha) island at the entrance to Loch Creran, linked by a bridge to the mainland. Privately-owned, it is run as a luxury hotel resort, based at Scottish baronial Eriska House, built in 1884 by the Stewarts of Appin, in wooded grounds.
