Wonder at the contrasts of Scotland’s Western Isles, from the wild landscapes of Lewis in the north, through the tranquil Uists to beautiful Barra in the south. Explore this Gaelic heartland, steeped in history and culture.

Tuesday 1st July

When all guests had embarked the ship in Oban, guests enjoyed a beautiful evening sail to our overnight anchorage in Ardtornish Bay. One of our guests from the USA had brought his own bagpipes and gave all on board a memorable experience.

Wednesday 2nd July

After a wonderful morning sail though the Sound of Mull around Ardnamurchan Point, the Small Isles, the Sound of Sleat and the narrows at Kyle Rhea, with dolphins making regular appearances, we arrived at the Kyle of Lochalsh for the afternoon visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle.

We anchored overnight tonight in Hallaig off the Isle of Raasay.

Thursday 3rd July

We spent the morning cruising the coastline of Skye, the Minch and the Shiant Isles to view the incredible birdlife, on passage towards the Isle of Lewis.

In the afternoon we arrived and berthed alongside in Stornoway, for a fascinating tour of the Callanish Standing stones and Dun Carloway Boch.

We remained alongside in Stornoway, Isle of Lewis overnight and local musicians came on board after dinner to entertain guests.

Friday 4th July

This morning guests visited the excellent Lews Castle museum, including the famous Lewis Chessmen.

After lunch we arrived and berthed alongside in Tarbert, Isle of Harris, for a tour of the island including tweed weaving demonstration and a photo stop at Luskentyre beach.

We anchored in East Loch Tarbert overnight.

Saturday 5th July

This morning we arrived and berthed alongside in Lochmaddy, North Uist, for a full day tour of the Uists and Benbecula, including Barpa Langass, Pobull Finn and Balranald nature reserve. A legendary Hebridean Princess picnic was served ashore.

The afternoon tour of South Uist included the superb Kildonan Museum.

We anchored in Lochboisdale, South Uist overnight.

Sunday 6th July

This morning the ship’s tenders and speedboat took guests ashore, for the visit to Prince’s Bay, Isle of Eriskay, for walks on the beach.

During lunch we sailed to Castlebay, Isle of Barra, where a coach took guests to Vatersay for walks on the spectacular beach, and an opportunity to see the monument to the stricken Annie Jane shipwreck disaster from 1853.

We remained at anchor in Castlebay, Barra.

Monday 7th July

We spent the morning cruising the Sea of Hebrides on passage towards Isle of Coll, as we sailed past Mingulay a large colony of seals was visible on the beach. Guests also enjoyed a visit to the ship’s bridge hosted by Captain Richard Heaton.

In the afternoon we arrived and berthed alongside at the Isle of Coll where guests enjoyed walks and bike rides on the island, with welcome refreshments at the Coll hotel.

We anchored overnight in Oban Bay where the Farewell Gala was held. Our American guest piped in the Haggis for the gala dinner.

Tuesday 8th July

Guests disembarked after breakfast in Oban and we wish them all a very safe onward journey.
