Tuesday 22nd July to Friday 1st August

Our eagerly anticipated journey south takes us on a voyage of discovery, allowing us to uncover the heritage of three Celtic nations and the delightful Cornish coast en route to the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Tuesday 22nd July

Guests were piped on board in Oban this afternoon and we set sail for our overnight anchorage in Loch na Mile, Jura.

Wednesday 23rd July

After spending the morning cruising the North Channel and the Antrim Coast on passage towards Northern Ireland, we arrived and berthed alongside in Larne. After lunch guests enjoyed a visit to Glenarm Castle where George, the Earl of Antrim’s butler conducted a behind the scenes tour. The tour was followed by tea and scones in the tea room and a walk around the beautiful walled garden.

We remained alongside in Larne overnight.

Thursday 24th July

This morning we cruised the Irish sea on passage towards the Isle of Man.  After arriving in Peel, a coach transported guests to visit Castle Rushen and Tynwald Hill with local tour guide Mark.

Evening entertainment was provided by Celtic Connections in the Tiree Lounge after dinner.

We remained alongside in Peel, Isle of Man overnight.

Friday 25th July

After breakfast, guests enjoyed a walking tour through Peel to St Germaine’s Cathedral and tasted Queenies on the way back to the ship.

Guests spent the afternoon relaxing on board as we cruised the Irish Sea on passage towards Wales. We anchored in Holyhead, Wales overnight.

Saturday 26th July

After breakfast guests were tendered ashore for the short coach journey to Plas Newyd house and gardens.

An afternoon sail of the west coast of Wales brought us to Fishguard where we berthed alongside overnight.

Sunday 27th July

This morning guests enjoyed a lovely welcome by the Fishguard Bay Welcome project before we set off for a private tour of the imposing Pembroke Castle.

After a delicious lunch at Twr y Felin hotel, we spent the afternoon exploring St David’s city and Cathedral.

We remained alongside in Fishguard, Wales overnight.

Monday 28th July

Today was spent at sea cruising the Celtic Sea towards Penzance, England where we anchored overnight.

Tuesday 29th July

This morning guests had the opportunity to stretch their legs independently at Penzance. After an early lunch, guests walked along the Causeway to St Michael’s Mount and visit the Castle and Gardens.

We anchored overnight in Cawsand Bay.

Wednesday 30th July

This morning we arrived in Plymouth to a ceremonial greeting from the town cryer, Frank, and ex-naval drummers.

After a morning exploring the town independently, the afternoon was spent visiting Buckland Abbey where guests enjoyed a guided tour and a Devonshire cream tea.

Upon return to the ship we were seen off by the wonderful Plymouth harbour Cruise ambassadors, the town crier and a piper, followed by a gin tasting sail away with Plymouth Gin.

We rounded off the busy day with the Captain’s Cornish celebration Gala dinner, a regional variation on the traditional Address to a Haggis!

We remained at anchor in Cawsand Bay overnight.

Thursday 31st July

This morning we moored in the River Dart and took the local ferry up river to Greenway House, the summer home of Agatha Christie.

We spent the final afternoon cruising the Jurassic Coast on passage towards our overnight anchorage in Weymouth Bay. During the sail, guest speaker Michale Buerk gave the last of his talks in the Tiree Lounge.

Friday 1st August

Disembarkation took place after breakfast in Portland and we hope all our guests have enjoyed this Grand Celtic Voyage.
