Scrabster – Dunnett Head Distillery. Sail to Lyness, Hoy.

Set in a wild and untamed landscape at the most northerly point of the British mainland, Dunnet Bay Distillery uses carefully harvested local botanicals in the production of their handcrafted spirits. Enjoy a tasting and learn the story of their distillation process.

Wednesday 7th August

Lyness, Hoy, Orkney – Scapa Flow Visitor Centre. Stromness, Orkney – Skara Brae.

The Scapa Flow Museum tells the story of Orkney’s military involvement during both world wars and houses a major collection of wartime artefacts, whilst Skara Brae is the best-preserved Neolithic settlement in western Europe; it was uncovered by a wild storm in 1850.

Stromness, Orkney – Heart of Neolithic Orkney. St Margaret’s Hope, South Ronaldsay, Orkney – Churchill Barriers & Italian Chapel.

Around 5,000 years ago, the prehistoric people of Orkney began building monuments out of stone and many still survive today. Explore the stone circles and chambered tombs at the Heart of Neolithic Orkney. From South Ronaldsay, visit the Churchill Barriers, built by Italian prisoners of war, and the delightful Italian Chapel, their enduring memorial.
