Monday 12th October
Inverness – Culloden and Clava Cairns. Cruise the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness to Fort Augustus.
Our first visit is Culloden, the infamous battlefield where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s Jacobite forces were defeated in 1746, and the well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery complex of Clava Cairns, ahead of a relaxing sail along the Caledonian Canal and Loch Ness, steeped in myths and legends.

Cruise the Caledonian Canal and transit Neptune’s Staircase to Corpach. Corpach – Glenfinnan Monument.
Descend Neptune’s Staircase, a set of eight interconnected locks dropping 19 metres into the sea lock at Corpach and visit the iconic monument honouring the fallen Jacobite clansmen at Glenfinnan, framed by spectacular Highland scenery.

Step ashore on the sacred isle of Iona to take time to reflect on the influence of the religious colonists who landed here and established a seat of Christianity in 563. Visit the ancestral home of Clan Maclean, Duart Castle, which proudly guards the sea cliffs of Mull and houses family treasures of the past 700 years.

Our final port of call is Oban, where Dunstaffnage Castle, the mighty stronghold of the ‘Kings of the Isles’, overlooks the Firth of Lorn. Flora MacDonald was held at Dunstaffnage in 1746 before being sent to the Tower of London for aiding Bonnie Prince Charlie’s escape.
