This spring, Scotland has been blessed with warm sunny days and blue skies, for the most part! On our Hebridean Princess ‘Botanical Wonders of the West Coast’ cruise, guest speaker Stefan Buczacki commented “How we were blessed with the weather! In all my years of visiting Scotland I have never known anything like it – at least, not for seven consecutive days.”
On the Springtime Surprise cruise in late April, Captain Heaton held the Welcome Gala reception outside on the Skye deck and sailed over the Minch to the Outer Hebrides, earlier in the season than would normally be attempted. In May and June, three successful landings on St Kilda were also achieved.
Lord of the Highlands guests have also basked in the delightful spring weather as the ship has made several full transits of the Caledonian Canal. We are introduced one of her Masters, Captain Jim Wright who is celebrating 40 years at sea, on pages 6 and 7.
In this issue, we also find out how new Hebridean Princess Master, Captain James Smith is settling into his role on pages 4-5.
We would be delighted if you would take the time to vote in the forthcoming Food and Travel Magazine Reader Awards and British Travel Awards. Details of the voting process can be found below.
I do hope that you enjoy this issue of The Hebridean Times and don’t forget to enter our Crossword Competition on the back cover to be in with a chance to win a delectable gift box from the Tobermory Fish Company!
With warmest wishes,
