Rothesay, Isle of Bute - Mount Stuart House. Largs - Ardgowan House.
Our first port of call is the delightful Isle of Bute. From the Victorian port of Rothesay we travel to Mount Stuart House, the neo-Gothic ancestral home of the Marquess of Bute. An eclectic mix of architectural styles, Mount Stuart was the first house in Scotland to be wired for electricity, had a lift, a heated indoor swimming pool and central heating system, all still working today. During lunch, we sail to Largs for our afternoon visit to Ardgowan House, a magnificent privately owned stately home set within 400 acres of woodland overlooking the Clyde estuary. Built in the 18th century, the 76 room Palladian mansion has been the ancestral seat of the Shaw Stewart family for 800 years.

Tarbert - walks ashore. Crarae - Inveraray Castle.
The idyllic fishing village of Tarbert plays host to morning walks. Known as the gateway to the Kintyre peninsula, the village’s natural harbour is still home to a working fishing fleet. Take a stroll up to Robert the Bruce’s 14th century ruined castle to appreciate the panoramic vistas over East Loch Tarbert. Ashore at Crarae, we discover one of the nation’s finest stately homes, the romantic Inveraray Castle on the shores of Loch Fyne. Home of the Dukes of Argyll, Chiefs of the Clan Campbell, the current castle was designed by Roger Morris and decorated by Robert Mylne. The fairytale façade houses an equally enchanting interior.

Cruise Loch Fyne. Holy Loch - Historic Kilmun.
A relaxing morning sail of Britain’s longest sea loch, the picturesque Loch Fyne extends 40 miles inland from the Sound of Bute and forms part of the coast of the Cowal peninsula. Historic Kilmun overlooks Holy Loch on a site with a religious history dating back to the 7th century. Built in 1841, the parish church boasts one of the very few working hydraulic water powered organs in Britain, together with impressive stained-glass windows by Stephen Adam. The adjoining Argyll Mausoleum is a burial place of Campbells of Argyll from the 16th century until the last Duke was interred there in 1949. Enjoy the final night of the season at our Farewell Gala reception and dinner, including a dramatic rendition of Robbie Burns’ Address to a Haggis.
