5th September - Sutherland's Scenic Coast
This cruise along the rugged Sutherland coast will appeal to lovers of real tranqility. The dramatic coastline is noted for its wild beauty and is peppered with scenic lochs and remote mainland villages, a real feast for the senses.
5th September 2017.
After a comfort stop en route to Oban, when the coach arrived and all guests were safely embarked the safety drill took place and we set sail for our overnight anchorage in Bloody Bay.
6th September 2017.
After a morning cruising along the Sound of Sleat, Kyle Rhea and under the Skye bridge we arrived in Plockton for an afternoon of walks ashore which included the open air church.
We anchored overnight off the Isle of Rona.
7th September 2017.
This morning we visited Inverewe Garden from Loch Ewe.
After lunch on board we landed on Tanera Mor, largest of the Summer Isles, for walks on the island and to visit the new post office which issues its own stamps.
We anchored off the point off Stoer overnight.
8th September 2017.
This morning from Kylesku we headed to the peaceful Loch a’ Chairn Bhain for walks ashore.
During lunch we cruised to Lochinver for an afternoon visit to Highland Stoneware Pottery.
We berthed alongside at Lochinver overnight.
9th September 2017.
Today was spent in Ullapool, visiting the Corrieshalloch Gorge and Rhue Art Studio in the morning, followed by a visit to the Ullapool Museum or strolls ashore in the afternoon.
When all guests were back onboard we set sail for our overnight anchorage off the Isle of Raasay.
10th Septmber 2017
We spent this morning cruising and berthed alongside at Kyle of Lochalsh ahead of our afternoon visit to Attadale Estate and Gardens. Some guests took the train from Kyle to Attadale to meet up with the rest of the guests. Refreshments were served in Attadale House.
We remained alongside at Kyle overnight.
11th September 2017.
This morning from our berth at Kyle a coach took guests to visit Portree, the capital town of the Isle of Skye for walks around the town.
Guests relaxed on board during the afternoon as we cruised Kyle Rhea, the Sound of Sleat, the Small Isles and the Sound of Mull on passage to our overnight anchorage off Ardtornish Point.
12th September 2017.
Disembarkation took place at Northern Lighthouse Board pier in Oban.
