25th August - Hebridean Tapestry

Our first summer 4 night cruise will see us explore some of the beautiful Inner Hebridean islands and take in the sheer delights if Jura, Iona, Staffa and Ulva.

25th August 2017.

Boarding was at our more familiar berth of the Northern Lighthouse Pier, Oban for the start of this short adventure.

26th August 2017.

Our first morning started with a delightful stroll along the road from Loch na Mile to Craighouse on the Isle of Jura.  Craighouse is the only village on the island and sits in the south western corner of Small Isles Bay, a broad bay on the island's south east coast sheltered by a series of islands known collectively as the Small Isles.

Onwards to neighbouring Colonsay and Colonsay House Gardens, with its 20 acres of woodland including exotic species from the southern hemisphere.

27th August 2017.

Sunday morning took us to the beautiful island of Iona, one of the world's most historic and venerated religiuos sites.

Departing from Iona we headed to Staffa, site of Fingal's Cave, formed entirely from basalt columns, similar in structure to the Giant's Causeway.

28th August 2017.

This morning was spent visiting tiny Ulva.  Here we were able to capture Mrs Aline Murray on board tender Shona - Mrs Murray named the tender in a ceremony several years ago after winning a competition held in our newsletter, The Hebridean Times.

Our final afternoon was spent in the pretty and coulourful Georgian Capital of Tobermory on the Isle of Mull.  Here we were able to carry out some last minute shopping as a reminder of our four nights on board Hebridean Princess.

29th August 2017.

Our short four night cruise came to an end this morning in Oban - we hope to see everyone again soon.
