17th September - Exploring the Outer Isles

Many of our ports of call, whether on the mainland or on one of the many islands, are off the beaten track.  Purpose built to cruise these waters, Hebridean Princess will take you to discover these hidden gems as we visit remote west coast locations and inaccessible island destinations.

Tuesday, 17th September.

Guests were piped on board this afternoon in Oban and we set sail for our overnight anchorage in Bloody Bay, off the Isle of Mull. 

Wednesday, 18th September.

During breakfast we set sail for the Small Isles and guests were tendered ashore on Canna for morning walks.

The afternoon was spent cruising the Sea of the Hebrides on passage to the Outer Isles and our overnight anchorage off Lochboisdale, South Uist. 

Thursday, 19th September.

This morning we berthed in Lochboisdale for a full day tour of the Uists with lunch at the Dark Island Hotel. Highlights included Kildonan Museum of cultural heritage, the ancient burial chamber of Barpa Langass and the historic standing stones of Pobull Fhinn.


Meanwhile Hebridean Princess sailed to Lochmaddy, North Uists, where guests re-joined the ship in the afternoon, before continuing a northerly course to our overnight berth in Stornoway where guests enjoyed local entertainment after dinner. 

Friday, 20th September.

Our morning was spent in Stornoway visiting Lews Castle Museum or exploring independently.

After returning to the ship for lunch, guests spent the afternoon exploring the Callanish Standing Stones and the Gerannan Black Houses. 

We anchored overnight in Gruinard Bay off Ullapool. 

Saturday, 21st September.

This morning we berthed in Ullapool where guests travelled by coach to Corrieshalloch Gorge and visited the local museum.

A relaxing afternoon was enjoyed as we cruised on passage to our overnight anchorage in Upper Loch Torridon. 

Sunday, 22nd September.

After breakfast guests were tendered ashore in Shieldaig for morning walks out to Duncraig Castle. Fishing trips and speedboat rides were also enjoyed.

During lunch we cruised to Plockton where guests were tendered ashore for walks and refreshments in the Plockton Hotel. 

We anchored overnight in Plockton. 

Monday, 23rd September.

Our final day began with a cruise under the Skye Bridge, past Eilean Donan Castle into Loch Duich and return, through Klyle Rhea and south to Tobermory where guests were tendered ashore for afternoon walks and shopping in the colourful harbour town.


The Farewell Gala was held alongside in Oban where we berthed overnight. 

Tuesday, 24th September.
