16th April - Easter in the Hebrides
Join Hebridean Princess on this Easter escape as we follow in the footsteps of St Columba to experience the unique atmosphere of Iona Abbey on Easter Day and discover the diversity of the idyllic Inner Isles.
Tuesday, 16th April.
Emabrkation took place alongside at Northern Lighthouse Pier in Oban and we anchored overnight in Oban Bay.
Wednesday, 17th April.
This morning guests travelled to An Cala Garden to explore the 5 acres which were established in 1930.
Following lunch on board, the afternoon was spent at Dunstaffnage Castle and the Ocean Centre.
Thursday, 18th April.
An early morning view from our anchorage looking towards Dunollie.
This morning guests visited the stunning gardens of Kinlochlaich House, which overlook Castle Stalker and were originally laid out in about 1790 by John Campbell of Lochend.
In the afternoon guests discovered the underground world of the hollow mountain, Ben Cruachan and its hidden feat of enginering, the Cruachan Power Station.
Friday, 19th April.
This morning we sailed to Glenmore Bay for a visit to the greenest distillery in Scotland, Ardnamurchan Distillery.
Pre lunch Rum Punch cocktails were enjoyed on the Skye Deck.
An afternoon of walks and strolls on the Isle of Canna was enjoyed before we sailed to our overnight anchorage in Loch Scresort off the Isle of Rum.
Saturday, 20th April.
Spending the morning on the Small Isle of Muck, guests explored this peaceful haven and enjoyed refreshemtns at the local cafe.
During lunch we cruised to Coll for an afternoon leg stretch.
We anchored in Loch na Keal off Ulva overnight.
Sunday, 21st April.
Ashore on the Holy Isle of Iona, the guests had the opportunity to attend the Easter Sunday service or go for walks on the island.
We spent the afternoon relaxing on board as we cruised towards our overnight anchorage off Port Ellen, Islay.
Monday, 22nd April.
Landing at Port Ellen on the whisky isle of Islay, guests toured the 200 year old Ardbeg Distillery and enjoyed tasting a wee dram.
Our final afternoon was spent on the Isle of Jura to visit the island's only village of Craighouse and go for walks along the bank.
2nd Officer Steve Grant was treated to spectacular views from the top of the main mast taken during a routine radar inspection.
We witnessed a beautiful sunset from our overnight anchorage in Charlotte Bay off Kerrera.
Tuesday, 23rd April.
The Captain, Officers and crew waved a fond farewell to our disembarking guests in Oban after breakfast.
