PRECAUTIONARY HEALTH ADVISORY

You will no doubt have seen the widespread media coverage relating to an outbreak of flu that started in Mexico and appears to have spread to a number of countries around the world.  To date there have been 2 confirmed cases in Scotland in the UK and a number of other cases in different parts of the World.

We are monitoring the situation closely with the Government’s UK Health Protection Agency and will follow any advice which they provide.  You can view the latest information from the Government’s Health Protection Agency on their website at www.hpa.org.uk.

It is essential that if you suffer any flu like symptoms in advance of your cruise that you contact us immediately.

Whilst the reported cases so far have occurred ashore, we would wish to ensure that such illness is contained and managed to prevent its introduction and spread on board.   It is therefore essential that when on board you telephone the Medical Centre immediately, by dialling 999, to report any flu like symptoms to our Doctor immediately. 

We would like to remind you that the simplest preventative measure you can take to help maintain a healthy environment is to wash your hands frequently and thoroughly with soap for at least 20 seconds and rinse them well under running water.  This will reduce the spread of the virus from your hands to your face.  In addition, the ship is equipped with hand sanitising units which should be used frequently.  We also recommend that you cover your nose and mouth when coughing or sneezing, using a tissue when possible and disposing of it promptly in one of the bins provided.
