Footloose to the Clyde
7 nights including 2 Gala Dinners
The final Footloose cruise of 2017 is a new itinerary combining the best Argyll and the Firth of Clyde have to offer. Scenic mainland walks and island vistas combine to make this an inspiring end to the walking year.
Departing from Oban, for the final time this season, we head for Loch Sween and the pretty fishing village of Tayvallich for a morning of walks and strolls. Onwards to ‘God’s Isle’ of Gigha where walkers strike out and strollers visit the famous Achamore Gardens, designed by Sir James Horlick.
A cruise of the Mull of Kintyre takes us to Campbeltown for a full day walk along part of the Kintyre Way, or travel to the remains of the Cistercian Saddell Abbey, founded in 1207. A full day on Arran allows walkers to stretch their legs, whilst strollers enjoy a tour of the island and the Arran Distillery. From Largs, Ardgowan House beckons; here the choice is to explore the house or estate on foot before sailing to Great Cumbrae, home to Britain’s smallest cathedral, The Cathedral of the Isles.
From scenic Holy Loch our morning is spent walking to Puck’s Glen or admiring the impressive avenue of Giant Redwoods at Benmore Botanic Garden. An afternoon cruising Loch Long and Loch Goil allows us to relax in anticipation of our final day, when our walkers enjoy a circular walk from Loch Thom along Greenock Cut and the strollers visit Loch Thom Nature Reserve and Visitor Centre, concluding our travels at Finlaystone House.
