21st March - Scotland's Western Seaboard
This season's first cruise from Oban allows us to explore the wonderful tapestry of landscapes in the sheltered waters off the west coast of Scotland and experience the diversity that makes this area unique.
21st March 2017
Embarking at Northern Lighthouse Pier in Oban for the first time in 2017 we set sail north through the Firth of Lorn and anchored overnight in Loch a Choire.
22nd March 2017
It was a beautiful blue sky morning for a cruise up Loch Linhe and through the Corran Narrows.
From Fort William guests travelled to the head of Loch Shiel to admire the spectacular mountain scenery and the Glenfinnan Monument where Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his standard to gather the Jacobite Clans.
After lunch we sailed to Ballchulish to visit the Glencoe Visitor Centre.
We anchored overnight in Loch a Choire.
23rd March 2017
This morning we explored Kingairloch, a 14,000 acre family-owned estate located on the Morvern Peninsula on the shores of Loch Linnhe.
During lunch we sailed to Loch Sunart to venture ashore at Salen to stroll amongst the ancient oakwoods.
Our overnight anchorage was Ardmore Bay .
24th March 2017
After a morning cruising the Small Isles, lunch was followed by a visit to Kinloch Castle on the Isle of Rum in the afternoon.
We anchored off Rum overnight.
25th March 2017
Steaming north we sailed into Loch Scavaig for strolls ashore at the magnificent freshwater Loch Coruisk at the heart of the Cuillins, before sailing around the south west coast of Skye and through Kyle Rhea to our overnight berth alongside at Kyle of Lochalsh.
26th March 2017
This morning we headed to Attadale Gardens to enjoy the spring sunshine and the collection of sculpture dotted amongst the tranquil gardens.
During the afternoon we cruised into Loch Nevis and were tendered ashore at Inverie to enjoy walks and a drink at Britain's most remote pub, the Old Forge Inn.
We witnessed a stunning sunset from our overnight anchorage in Loch Nevis.
27th March 2017
Walks ashore on the Isle of Eigg were the order of the day this morning.
The final visit of our voyage was the Ardnamurchan Distillery, the newest, greenest and most westerly mainland distillery.
28th March 2017
We sailed into Oban bay this morning and embarkation took place at Northern Lighthouse Pier.
