AN ISLAND ODYSSEY IN THE INDIAN OCEAN

This Indian Ocean tour de force sees us island-hop from Mauritius to Réunion and from Madagascar to the Seychelles. On our way we find a string of earthly treasures: coral atolls and desert isles, simmering volcanoes and breathtaking calderas, a prehistoric forest and marine parks teeming with underwater life.

SATURDAY 21ST MARCH
Port Louis, Mauritius
Guests embark Hebridean Spirit in Port Louis.

SUNDAY 22ND MARCH
Port Louis, Mauritius
We spend the day on the private island of Iles des Deux Cocos in the Blue Bay Marine Park, its white-sand beaches and lagoon a delight to swim and snorkel in. A buffet lunch will be served ashore.

MONDAY 23RD MARCH
Pointe des Galets, Le Port, Réunion
We drive into the mountainous interior of Réunion and up the slopes of Piton de la Fournaise, its active volcano. Stopping en route to the crater at 2,311m, guests will see amazing views of cliffs, chasms and moonlike landscapes. After a Creole lunch at the base of the volcano, we return to the ship.

TUESDAY 24TH MARCH
Pointe des Galets, Réunion
Our morning excursion takes us through sugarcane fields to the most beautiful of Réunion’s three calderas, the Cirque of Salazie and its impressive waterfall, Le Voile de la Marie. Guests will visit a vanilla factory and can shop in the capital, St Denis. After lunch on board, there is free time and the possibility of a swim.

WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH
At sea.

THURSDAY 26TH MARCH
Toamasina, Madagascar
The breathtaking biodiversity of Madagascar is explored as we spend the morning at Parc Ivoloina, home to 10 types of lemur. Guests will take guided walks around this zoological park and can learn about its conservation work and breeding programmes. After lunch on board, we tour Toamasina and visit a local school before relaxing at a private tennis club with its own beach.

SATURDAY 28TH MARCH
Nosy Be, Madagascar
Guests enjoy a day of sun, swimming and snorkelling on the island of Nosy Tanikely, located within a protected marine reserve. A huge variety of fish swims in the shallow coral reef, including angelfish, clownfish and turtles. A buffet lunch will be served ashore.

SUNDAY 29TH MARCH
At sea.

MONDAY 30TH MARCH
Aldabra Atoll, Seychelles
Guests enjoy a full day in the unspoilt Aldabra Atoll. The atoll comprises four large coral islands around a lagoon and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and conservation area, home to giant tortoises, endangered birds and many species of exotic fish.

TUESDAY 31ST MARCH
At sea.

WEDNESDAY 1ST APRIL
Praslin, Seychelles
We take a guided tour of the Vallée de Mai, a prehistoric forest that contains 4,000 giant Coco-de-mer palms, unique to the Seychelles, and rare birds including the national black parrot. Guests will lunch ashore with free time in the afternoon, or continue our tour of the island and perhaps swim from one of its beaches.

THURSDAY 2ND APRIL
Mahé, Seychelles
Guests disembark Hebridean Spirit in Mahé.
