Mossel Bay, South Africa
After a morning at sea we arrive at Mossel Bay where we
enjoy free time, with easy walking to the small town from
the ship’s berth.
SUNDAY 18TH JANUARY
Mossel Bay, South Africa
We take a scenic drive along the Garden Route towards
the Swartberg Mountains, arriving at Oudtshoorn, the
capital of ostrich country. Here, we tour a breeding farm
and take lunch.
MONDAY 19TH JANUARY
Mossel Bay, South Africa
At Mossel Bay, we visit the Bartholomeu Diaz Museum
Complex which marks the spot where Diaz landed in1488.
TUESDAY 20TH JANUARY
Port Elizabeth, South Africa
We spend the day on safari at the Kariega Game
Reserve. The reserve is home to the Big Five, as well as
zebra, wildebeest and many bird species. Guests will
wildlife-spot in open 4x4s, take a riverboat cruise and
lunch ashore.
WEDNESDAY 21ST JANUARY
East London, South Africa
We tour East London, used as a British military base during
the Xhosa Wars. We head for a swim at Gonubie Beach
before lunch on board and Hebridean Spirit’s afternoon
departure for Cape Town.
THURSDAY 22ND JANUARY
At sea.
FRIDAY 23RD JANUARY
Cape Town, South Africa
After a morning at sea, we arrive in Cape Town and take
a cable-car ride up Table Mountain. The car’s rotating
floor gives passengers 360-degree views of the city and
harbour as it glides up to the viewing station at 1,067m.
SATURDAY 24TH JANUARY
Cape Town, South Africa
We drive into the Western Cape and its famous
Winelands, arriving at the pretty village of Franschhoek,
founded in 1688 by French Huguenots. We visit the
Huguenot Museum, sample wines from local estates and
enjoy a picnic lunch.
SUNDAY 25TH JANUARY
Cape Town, South Africa
After a morning at leisure, we visit the Kirstenbosch
Botanic Gardens, renowned for its displays of Cape flora.
Guests enjoy an early-evening alfresco concert in the
grounds, situated on the slopes of Table Mountain.
MONDAY 26TH JANUARY
At sea.
TUESDAY 27TH JANUARY
Lüderitz, Namibia
We arrive in Nambia in the early afternoon and drive to
the ghost town of Kolmanskop, a German-style village
built circa 1910 to house diamond miners in the Namib
Desert. We return to the quaint harbourside town of
Luderitz, its Germanic architecture a legacy of the
diamond rush.
WEDNESDAY 28TH JANUARY
Walvis Bay, Namibia
After a morning at sea, we take a spectacular four-wheel
drive through the dunes to a desert camp where guests
will enjoy a star-lit dinner accompanied by live music,
fire spinning and dancing.
THURSDAY 29TH JANUARY
Walvis Bay, Namibia
The morning sees us cruise around Walvis Bay in local
boats to spot pelicans, seals and dolphins. After lunch
on board, there will be on-board entertainment from a
group of Namibian performers.
FRIDAY 30TH JANUARY
Walvis Bay, Namibia
Guests disembark Hebridean Spirit in Walvis Bay.
