Land at Loch Tarbert on the wildlife wilderness to walk beneath the towering Paps of Jura. Step onto the southernmost of the Inner Hebrides on Islay, synonymous with whisky, and home to eight working distilleries. Take an island tour including Finlaggan, historical centre of the Lords of the Isles, with lunch at Port Charlotte Hotel and a visit to Bowmore with its round church and distillery. In Kilmartin Glen, scattered with hundreds of ancient sites, grasp the sheer history of Dunadd Fort, the birthplace of Dalriada and the Scottish nation.
On Mull, Duart Castle has guarded its headland for centuries as the seat of the powerful Clan MacLean.
