Including 2 Gala Dinners
North through the Inner Sound to Gairloch, explore the acclaimed beauty of Inverewe Gardens, planted in the 1860s by the youthful Osgood Mackenzie on a barren headland above Loch Ewe.
From bustling Ullapool marvel at the deep chasm of Corrieshalloch Gorge and the misted, plunging Falls of Measach. Walk on the uninhabited bird sanctuary of Isle Martin, named after the 4th century saint. Land on a beach in the enchanted Shiant Isles, spellbound by the overwhelming sight and sound of the vast seabird cliffs.
Onwards to Lewis and Stornoway; the Callanish Standing Stones, erected some 5,000 years ago, and Iron Age Carloway Broch are majestic and awe-inspiring. Weather permitting, Hebridean Princess heads into the open Atlantic Ocean for St Kilda.
Early morning, cruise the echoing bird stacs of Boreray and Lee, before a tranquil stroll through the deserted cottages and dotted cleits of Village Bay, now roamed by Soay sheep and imagine the plight of Hirta's last inhabitants. Afternoon cruise for the Outer Isles and Barra. From Castlebay, site of the MacNeils' Kisimul Castle, tour the delightful isle by coach, whiling away the afternoon on the crossing to the Inner Isles.
Ashore on St Columba's Iona, where he sought refuge far away from his beloved Ireland, visit the restored abbey, or venture over the machair to the Bay at the Back of the Ocean. There is no more fitting finale than to cruise past the inspirational basalt columns of Staffa and Fingal's Cave en route for Oban.
